RAKMHSU is organizing a Blood Donation Campaign in collaboration with the Standing Committee of Public Health (SCOPH)/IFMSA , UAE and Blood Bank, Saqr Hospital, under the theme

BLOOD DRIVE – SAVE A LIFE!

The Campaign will be held on 20th  March 2023, from 9:00 am-2:00 pm, at the Clinical Skills Lab, RAKCOMS.

CRITERIA FOR DONATION:

• Blood donor should be a resident of the UAE- Bring emirates ID
• Good general health conditions at the time of donation
• Above 18 years old
• The weight of donors between 18-20 should be above 55Kg
• Donors’ vitals must be stable at the time of donation

YOU CANNOT DONATE IF YOU:

• Are pregnant or lactating
• Have travelled outside the country in the past 7 days
• Have travelled to endemic countries in the past 3 months
• Are currently taking antibiotics
• Have had piercings or tattoos in the past 12 months
• Are suffering from any infectious diseases
• Have insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus
• Have iron deficiency anemia
• Have undergone any major surgeries recently
• Have a history of hepatitis, malaria or blood borne diseases

AFTER DONATION:

• Drink plenty of fluids
• Avoid rigorous activity
• Eat iron-rich food
• Keep the bandage on for a few hours
